On 23 October 2026, the Japanese business magazine Toyo Keizai published its Sugoi Venture 100 list for 2026 (“The 100 promising start-ups that will come through the age of selection”). SUCRECUBE Japon is one of the six companies in the ESG and Impact category. The print edition of Weekly Toyo Keizai goes on sale on 27 October, and the profiles of each company will be published online after that.

A message from Koichi SATO, CEO.

2026 has been a turning point. Keeping “The Analects and the Abacus” as our foundation, we adopted a commercial slogan: “From Africa, For the world”.

The idea is simple. When a Japanese start-up builds a global business from Africa, that growth is at the same time Africa’s growth, and that is what ESG impact means.

At first our view was “For Africa”. Over time we came to see only Africa. The business stalled and we were struggling.

What broke the deadlock was the opposite vector: “From Africa”. From Africa to the world. Our field of view widened at once, and our experience in Japan and France came back into play.

With that, commercial activity picked up with our partners. Through contracts with international organisations and through exports, we are widening our sources of income in foreign currency. In Africa, industrialisation is moving forward in health, education and agriculture. Drawing on the experience and the network we have built, Senegalese mangoes are now being promoted in Japan and in France, and sample shipments to Japan have begun.

That is exactly what “From Africa, For the world” means.

Against this background, being selected by Toyo Keizai for the Sugoi Venture 100, and among the six in the ESG and Impact category, is a great honour. Companies in the finance sector have already contacted us after seeing the list. We are feeling the weight of recognition by a major publication.

The days are hard and draining, but the shift that has begun is moving, slowly. Without haste, step by step, we will keep going with our colleagues in Japan, Senegal and France.
