Message from the CEO
My name is Koichi SATO. I am the CEO of SUCRECUBE Japon.
I founded SUCRECUBE Technologies in France in 2008 and have worked between France, Japan and Senegal for close to twenty years. We began with telecommunications and IT infrastructure. Today our work centres on electrification, cold storage, processing and export in Africa.
In 2019 we brought electricity to our first health post in Senegal. Until then, the midwife delivered babies at night with a small torch held between her teeth. One solar panel and one battery box were enough for that post to see patients at night. That year, under a memorandum with the Ministry of Health, we electrified ten health posts. In January 2020 we set up the Senegalese subsidiary TUMIQUI JAPON SASU. In schools, working with the Ministry of National Education, we brought televisions and teaching material into classrooms. At the first school equipped, the pass rate for the primary school leaving exam rose from 31% to 77% the following year.
That experience changed the company. We no longer deliver electricity alone. On top of electricity we add cold storage. On top of cold storage, processing and export. On top of all of it, information. Our two sites in Sandiara run day and night on solar power and batteries, and the mangoes processed with the women’s group GIE DIAMI SANDIARA are now being introduced in Japan and France.
2026 was a turning point for us. Our view had been “For Africa”. Over time we came to see only Africa, and the business stalled. So we reversed the vector: “From Africa”, from Africa to the world. That one word widened our horizon and brought our experience in Japan and France back into the work. Through contracts with international organisations and through exports, we are widening our income in foreign currency, and that income goes back to the field, into health, education and agriculture in Senegal. We call this cycle “From Africa, For the world”.
Our foundation is Eiichi Shibusawa’s “The Analects and the Abacus”: do not separate profit from ethics. Build trust with the people on the ground, make things together, grow together. That is what twenty years in France and eight years in Senegal have taught me.
We are a company that sells products. We are also a company that stays in the field so that those products keep working for years. If you are considering a project in Africa, please get in touch. The Sandiara sites are open to visitors.
