On 12 February 2026, a full-page Seiko Epson feature in the morning edition of the Nikkei, Japan’s leading business daily, titled “Innovation drawn by inkjet technology”, presented the digital education and printing work that SUCRECUBE Japon leads in Senegal.

In schools without electricity, SUCRECUBE Japon installs the TUMIQUI Smart Kit, a portable kit of solar panels and a battery that provides lighting and internet over Wi-Fi. To put the digital teaching materials in every pupil’s hands as well, we chose Seiko Epson’s low-power “EcoTank” inkjet printer.

In February 2025, printers were installed and tested in five primary schools in Senegal. Beyond colour teaching materials, teachers widened the uses on their own: school notices, photos of lessons, pupils’ record books. The documents handed out to schools and families also improve everyday life in rural areas.

In the article, Junkichi Yoshida, President of Seiko Epson, says that colour teaching materials sparked the children’s curiosity and that the company received more smiles and thanks than it had imagined.

Digital education with the TUMIQUI Smart Kit was then adopted by UNICEF in The Gambia, which led to its deployment in 122 Gambian schools.
